Overly Literal Song Titles

Each clue is a Christmas song title, said the long way round.

Final Jeopardy

Christmas Songs: Two songwriters wrote this song during a summer heatwave in 1945, trying to cool off by thinking about winter. It opens with chestnuts by an open fire.

Answer: "The Christmas Song," by Mel Tormé and Bob Wells.

Make one round about your own people

Some of the best Christmas rounds aren't trivia at all. They're about the people in the room: "Where were we?" with old holiday photos, "Name that year" for old Christmas Eve pictures, or "Who said that?" with quotes from the family group chat.

Nobody can study for these, so everyone has a fair shot. At work, a round of facts about your team does the same job.

Christmas Jeopardy FAQ

How many questions do I need?

As many as you'd like — there's no fixed number. You can stick to the classic six categories with five questions each, or build something smaller or bigger depending on how long you want the game to run.

How difficult should the questions be?

Generally, easier is better. Buzzing in first is a big part of Jeopardy, so reaction time ends up mattering as much as actually knowing the answer — and a room has more fun when most people can answer most of the questions, rather than everyone stalling on hard ones.

How can people join my Jeopardy game?

They join with a game code from their own phone or laptop — no app or account needed. That works whether everyone's in the same room or spread across a video call.

How do I turn this into a board I can actually run?

Open the Jippis creator, paste in whichever categories and clues you want to keep, and set a point value per question.

Can we play Christmas Jeopardy over a video call?

Yes. Share your screen with the board on it, and everyone joins and buzzes from their own phone.

How many categories should we use?

Five or six is plenty for one evening. A full board of 25 to 30 clues takes about 30 to 40 minutes. If the room still wants more, save the other categories for a second round.
